The leaders include PADI professional scuba instructors, high school teachers, college professors, marine biologists, graduate students, and Coast Guard licensed sailing masters. Who Are Qualified For Broadreach Program?

Broadreach offers over 70 global education and skill-building adventures in 40+ nations for middle school, high school, and college students. Each program provides hands-on experiences for students in the real world. The students should have completed 7th grade prior to the beginning of the program so that they are allowed to attend the program.

However, note that some programs have prerequisites so you are eligible to take part. For instance, some programs require certain scuba diving certification levels while language programs require that the student have some knowledge of the foreign language, such as having taken at least a Semester of Spanish with Broadreach.

Most of the participants find the summer an exhilarating and life-changing experience. It differs from home and usually needs some new responsibilities. Before enrolling, note that the programs are physically demanding and it is a good idea that students be in a good physical condition. Broadreach also encourages an atmosphere of cooperation and respect since it is a critical success factor for most of the programs. Before traveling to any destination, students must also complete the Broadreach Medical Form, which must be signed by a doctor so that the organization ensures that the student is healthy enough to take part in all activities offered, and they must have a passport. All the Broadreach Foundation applicants must ensure that they possess a passport and if they have not already gained one should begin the application process as it can be a lengthy one.

Qualifications To Work In The Programs

For junior scuba instructors, students must have a Divemaster certification, and then take an instructor course with once you have logged 80+ dives. Once you have a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) certification, you can work as Junior Caribbean Dive Instructors. You must also have experience and a passion to mentor and work with teens and college students.

For program assistants, Broadreach offers two openings each summer for an Assistant International Program Instructor for one or more Latin America programs. Most desirable qualifications for top candidates include previous experience working with teens and the youth in a specific field of study and having Spanish skills. You must have experience and a passion to mentor and work with teens and college students.

Broadreach offers For internships in the Caribbean during summer. Interns help run the St. Martin base and are crucial to the success of programs that lead the Leeward island diving and sailing programs. To qualify for the internship, Broad reach HQ has a Video & Media Internship available each semester for local NCSU college students who pursue film and media studies. You can do this class for a class credit and then apply for a Broadreach internship via the NCSU Film Studies department.

To qualify for Wilderness Instructors/International Program Instructors, you need foreign language skills particularly in Spanish, Arabic, Italian, and French for some new programs. Knowing a second language is an added advantage. You must have experience and a passion to mentor and work with teens and college students.

To qualify as an academic instructor in Broadreach programs that range from Marine Science, Animal Science, and Photography to Medicine, Language and STEM, you need a master’s degree in the specific field of study along with international travel and previous teaching experience. You must also have experience and a passion to mentor and work with teens and college students.
